SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
With increasing market awareness about the environmental impact of plastic packaging, the demand for sustainable packaging materials has also grown.
Sustainable packaging also generates enthusiasm among consumers who are well aware of the harmful impacts of plastic waste on the environment.
But in essence, what really is eco-friendly packaging?
By definition, sustainable packaging is any packaging that is easy to recycle, safe for individuals and the environment, and made from recycled materials. They use materials and manufacturing practices that have minimal impact on energy and natural resource consumption. Also known as eco-friendly or green packaging, sustainable packaging solutions aim to:
- Decrease the amount of product packaging
- Promote the use of renewable/reusable materials
- Cutting packaging-related expenses
- Elimination of the use of toxic materials in packaging production
- Provision of options to recycle packaging easily
Paper is an excellent sustainable packaging option as it is reusable, recyclable, biodegradable and can be used for any purpose.
Most of the paper packaging we see every day is made from recycled paper, and paper can even be recycled up to 6 times before the paper fibbers break down those smaller pieces, which can also be made into paper again.
Also, the fact that replacing solvents with water-based inks translates into the reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOC), switching to water-based inks is a relevant contribution to reduce the carbon footprint of packaging.
For MEDIApack®, concern for the environment is a priority, which is why all our packaging is FSC® certified. Recognized as the world’s most important certification for forest management, the FSC® seal allows consumers to choose brands that are committed to forest sustainability.
Nature combined with science is the answer to create the best products.
